One of the first things we hear when we want to set up a page on the Internet is that “SEO is important.” Few people understand what it means by the amount of information available on the network. I will try to contribute my grain of sand to explain what is understood under the SEO concept (or increase the confusion) by also adding some of the most important terms to understand.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) consists of a series of techniques to improve the positioning of a blog or a website in search engines. The goal is to appear as high as possible of the top 10 Google positions so that the largest possible number of users is redirected to our site, blog or online store.
Search engine optimization for beginners
I leave you with 10 interesting terms and posts if you want to deepen some of the themes to facilitate the beginning. In editoresweb.es (another blog in which I participate although less frequently) I have published a post that gives some basic explanations to start a blog.
Once you have started the adventure, you are probably wondering how you can increase your web traffic. Although you can increase revenue without increasing visits, at the beginning of any activity it is more relevant than more than three users arrive daily to your page. Here are the 10 terms and links to launch you on the topic of SEO.
Internal Links: links are important to measure the relevance of the contents. They are equivalent to “recommendations” in real life. The more authentic recommendations we get, the more relevant and better positioned we will be in the search engines.
The internal links are internal recommendations so that the user can deepen the topics you deal with in more detail. At the same time, we indicate to the search engines the most interesting pages within our website that are related to a specific search.

Keywords to obtain information in search engines we use a combination of specific words. In terms of SEO, we speak in this case of keywords. Most people use similar keywords when they use search engines. It is important to use the same terms in the contents of the web so that we have the possibility of appearing in the results. You have to know how people look for the topics you deal with on your website.
SEO: Long Tail Keywords vs. Generic Keywords
Tags: tags (or “tags” in English) are additional information to categorize your post. With this, you tell both the user who arrives at your blog and the search engines what topics you are dealing within a post.

Page Rank: the Page Rank or PR of a blog has ceased to exist as a criterion to measure the relevance of a blog from Google’s point of view. Today it is useful to give an orientation of whether a page is “popular”, that is if it has received many external links pointed to it or not.
What is Google PageRank and what is it for?
“At your age and do you still believe in the Page Rank?”
Trust Rank: The Trust Rank is the successor of the Page Rank. Instead of measuring the number of links a site has received, it gives more weight to the reliability of a site. Like everything Google does, many things are related to a subjective interpretation of the authors who try the number and try to explain how it works.
Trust Rank: A new era?
H2 title: within the HTML layout of your site, titles should use the “H1”, “H2” or “H3” tags. It is a basic “onsite” optimization to improve the structure and reading by search engines.
The importance of titles
Directory: as I told you before, getting links is an important criterion to improve our relevance and the probability of raising positions in the top positions of search engines. A simple way to obtain external links is to register in directories. There are different opinions if they have links or not. In the link, I leave you to find one of them.

Link baiting :
Link baiting is a tactic to receive a large number of links to our site. The goal is to create a viral post that creates a lot of interest from other bloggers. It is an advanced technique that consists of organizing surveys, asking for opinions, providing information of great added value or other ways that somehow get attention.
What is link baiting?
Blackhat: a person is called “Blackhat” when applying tactics to improve the positioning not allowed by search engines. These may work in the short term but should not be part of a long-term positioning strategy.
What is the Black Hat SEO?
Whitehat: a Whitehat SEO is the opposite of a Blackhat. Apply only tactics allowed to obtain a “clean” positioning without risking being banned from the index, which means not being able to receive search engine traffic.
SEO White Hat
This initial selection of terms is not complete nor the most relevant. Many specialized blogs provide much value-added content to gain more knowledge and deepen the subject. SEO is not a topic to be afraid of. You don’t have to be an SEO expert (eg I think many people know much more about the subject than me) to get a good positioning with the website, blog or online store.
